It’s a bit of a niche caliber (at least here in France), very similar to the more common .300 PRC, but theoretically slightly better due to its bigger case capacity. It remains supersonic up to ~1500 meters (1650 yards) with 250 grains bullets. My main motivation to buy it was to experience magnum calibers. It seemed like a lot of fun and a good challenge to handle this kind of heavy recoil cartridge.

9 facts why you can't beat a Glock

There is already tons of content online about Glock pistols and why they’re the best, or the worse. And stories of people who went from hating them to loving them — it turns out that’s what happened to me, and I’m going to explain the reasons.
In this post, I’m going to give you 9 facts about why Glock pistols will meet the vast majority of people’s needs, for a fraction of the cost of other pistols on the market.

Designing & manufacturing a custom handgun red-dot mount

Introduction # Until recently, I didn’t have a 1911 in my safe. I had to fix this and bought a BUL Armory 1911 Trophy in .45 ACP.
BUL Armory really makes great value firearms: I got it for €2350 and it has all the features you can wish for: light & crisp trigger, adjustable rear sight, fiber optic front sight, front and back serrations on the slide… everything except one thing: it does not come optic-ready.

Reloading Subsonic .30-30 Win - Reverse Engineering of a manufactured cartridge

Motivation # My first idea when I decided to make my own subsonic .30-30 Win cartridges was to disassemble a manufactured bullet and basically replicate the “recipe”.
It was naive because most manufacturers will NOT use canister powders. Canister powder is basically the powder you can buy at the gunshop. Manufacturers will often use powders you can’t get, or even mix powders, which you should NEVER attempt. Thus, this “method” will rarely work and could be dangerous (even if you think you found out the correct powder, you could be wrong, or it could be mixed with another one).

Reloading Subsonic .30-30 Win - Reloading Cycle

2025 update: it’s been a few years since I wrote this article, and as I got more experience with reloading and long range shooting, I feel the need to say this: this series of articles presents a reloading process which is fine for this kind of shooting (i.e. recreational, fun shoot), but which lacks several steps and tools for a state of the art reloading. More generally, it will help you to get started in reloading any rifle cartridge.
I’m a huge fan of silenced firearms. We don’t shoot for noise and recoil, do we? When I acquired my Marlin 336 XLR chambered in .30-30, the very first thing I did was threading the barrel and mounting a silencer, the ASE Utra SL7i.
